You can know how to punch and not be powerful enough to damage someone with said punch. I knew how to punch as a kid myself, and was still bullied (mind you this was grade 1 in the late 80's), i kept punching the bully back (one punch) and giving him a bleeding nose, he would cry, and I would get in trouble (afternoon in the principals office). he still did not stop. one day I had enough of it and beat him so badly he didn't come to school for two weeks, i was suspended for 3 days, and the principal called in a parents meeting where his mother was provided the evidence and history of his bullying against me (he was not present for it as his face was black and blue). Suffice to say, he never bothered me again. 2 years later they moved away. Apparently there was issues within the community involving his father and the police that was in local news.. but thats another story.
In conclusion, no, knowing how to punch and giving your bully a bleeding nose with one punch will not stop a bully.
