The skater hits Kyle with his skateboard and then grabs the barrel of the rifle and PULLS it towards his own chest. Anyone with a cursory concept of physics could ascertain that pulling a gun while someone has their finger on the trigger of the gun and is trying to keep you from taking their gun is very likely to cause the gun to discharge if you PULL it towards yourself.
