You can't trust the military, period. The system is designed from the ground up to enforce compliance and put drones with zero individuality at the top. Recent college graduates and high school graduates are favored over all recruits because they have next to no life experience and respond more favorably to indoctrination. Hell, the requirement to be an officer is to just have a bachelors of any kind, and do OTS, then that gives you the authority to lead any enlisted while being as young as 22, which is pretty fucked. There's a list of legal trappings a mile long that give your superiors free reign to fuck you over if you step out of line, and these are not open to any interpretation most of the time. The pay is only just enough to live comfortably, having to rely solely on them for healthcare, education, and housing. Trying to do something about this as a private citizen might result in some legal and financial repercussions, but as an enlisted or officer, it's a one way ticket to having your life ruined forever. So stop thinking the military is going to do something. The system got a hold of it a long time ago.
