How would "decriminalization" work?
Could China still import and freely distribute fentanyl to whomever it wished?
Could I open a meth lab next door to you and party with my friends there?
Could I use heroin and horse opiates to control the teenage girls I put on the corner?
Could I use date rape drugs to "seduce" and rape girls - and boys too, I assume.
Does anyone seriously believe that if drugs were "decriminalized" (whatever that means) and became therefore even cheaper and more available, that more people would not use them?
Perhaps Las Vegas casinos could have hostesses walk around with lines of coke and speed so that their customers could stay awake gambling even longer?
What happens to people who can now get slightly-above-cost heroin anytime they want? Do you think they are going to be good parents? How will they get food and diapers for the children? How will they keep a job? Wil theyhave to hook or burgle houeses to pay the rent? Because they will not be able to function in the workplace.
Your notion of "decriminalization" is an insane absurdity.
This problem is a problem of modernity and nothing will make it go away. But, bad as it already is, we can certainly make it worse, and your suggestion is one way to do that.
Drug dealers directy and indirectly kill people with their product, destroy lives, families, and communities and - as a matter of geopolitics - are even being used as a weapon of war against this country.
Drug dealers need to pay the price for their callous selfishness. We need executions for drug possession. Mass executions.
We already have drug dealers killing 60,000 people a year in the USA. It is about time that they themselves paid the price they so cavalierly impose on their victims.
