Control of earth orbit is key to our entire military and economic system now.
GPS is now fundamental to war fighting, logisitcs in every industry, and farming. If an opponent can remove our satellites from orbit, we are going to be unable to restore functions that are now essential to operating our entire economic system.
Additionally, space trash could do the same thing (Kessler Syndrome). Space Force is super duper necessary.
