If a woman wants to work, I think that's fine, but we need to be honest as a society about the crippling costs of dual income households on children. If both parents are working demanding jobs, what kind of life does that leave for the kids? Eating takeout or frozen food multiple times a week? Being raised by paid strangers and YouTube?
We should really be encouraging families to have one stay at home parent, whether its the husband or the wife. If that was the norm again, it would solve many problems at once. Having a kid is now more affordable because you don't have to pay someone to watch your child all the time. Your kid will grow up in a more loving and supportive home and is less likely to suffer from disorders and behavioral issues later in life. Income inequality would go down because most dual income families are in the lower to middle class and removing roughly half the supply of labor would result in much higher wages for these groups. With more people at home, cooking almost every meal becomes easier, which will lead to reduced obesity, lower diabetes levels, lower levels of heart disease, and probably a host of other health-related benefits from people not eating processed shit all the time.
Another related benefit is it would likely lower the divorce rate. People will think more carefully before they marry someone if they know this person is going to be their economic support or the person who runs the day to day affairs of the family. When you're a dual income family its easy to split up if you're not happy. You have your own income and manage the day to day in your own life. If you're a true team as a couple that becomes much harder and so it provides incentive to choose wisely in the first place, and to exhaust all options for working out problems if they do arise.
