I don’t really want to get into a debate over the fiat monetary system as that is far afield from OP topic... I feel you and I are in a purely semantic debate. Which is good! Words are important. Excommunication is the opposite of secession. Its saying, “I’m not leaving, YOU leave!” This why I don’t like the word secession. Its defeatist. We need to remove it from our lexicon. Secession is saying, “I don’t like these rules, I’m making my own.” Excommunication is “You are not following the rules so piss off.” The words we use have power. I think secession weakens us, it does not bind us together.
