Unfortunately this is not that drastically new news. If you’ve ever been to The People’s’ Cube (great site and group by the way) and read the “Red Primer” they host, you’ll know that even that book- nearly three quarters of a century old- references the PRC attacking India.
Most people don’t know it because it usually happens rather quietly, but the Granddaughter of all Mountain Conflicts has been happening at a glacial pace between the Red Asshoes and Green Asshoes of the PRC and Pakistan on one side and India on another. “Usually” limited to aggressive patrolling and the occasional skirmish. But if this article is true it might be escalating. Both sides have been laying the groundwork to sustain this kind of thing since 1962, and the Commies even longer. So chances are a conflict in earnest will be bigger than the last time these two went at it in 1962. A lot bigger.
The only mountain war with anything on this scale was the Western Allies v Austria-Hungary and Germany in the Alps during WWI, and even that is probably going to look like a small potato if this accelerates even into a limited war for the Himalaya Frontier.
