I experienced this in a class: all liberals, including the professor (he'd even worked/studied with Judith Butler, and all our assignments were from people like Adorno, Foucault, Horkeimer, etc. All critical theory, etc — and keep in mind this is an esteemed professor at an ivy, serves as the program chair, etc., and without giving too much away, Dinesh D'Souza has name dropped him in a recent video), and midway through the term I had to do my presentation on that week's article (an article on "fake news" written by a marxist academic for a socialist journal). I was soooo nervous, but decided, "fuck it," and made a video that completely ripped her article apart (for essentially saying fake news is only on the right and because of Trump), so I made a debunk video, and showing all the examples of MSM fake news, etc.
Well, students started literally walking out because the cognitive dissonance was too much. My professor literally told me to pause the video, went out the classroom, and made them all come back inside the class and watch. I overheard him saying "he probably disagrees with every single assigned reading in this class, probably disagrees with alll of your opinions and presentations, but he still comes to class, listens to your thoughts, and politely engages with you. You can at least do that."
Once the video ended, the barrage came, with on feminazi even saying "I'd just like to hear from someone that isn't a white male in a position of power," lol. Professor and I made eye contact and kind of even spoke without speaking. He ended up helping me defend my video, and even helped me shut a girl down about the media coverage of the Covington kids. Was an interesting day. SUper lib professor even found me after class and told me how much he liked me video and thanked me for bringing a different perspective to class and not being afraid to state what I believe to be true.
