Do not second guess your trip at all. You will have a fantastic time. Go to Myrtle Beach. Enjoy the ocean. It’s a fun beach. We’ve visited there many times with our boys and they have loved it every time. There is so much to do to keep busy. There is the beach, of course, where you can walk for miles, swim, hunt for shells, and relax with a great book. Most hotels have amazing pools and lazy rivers, hot tubs. Many days, my family will just go back and forth between the pools and the beach and never even leave the area. If we do leave, there are numerous entertainment options. If you like outdoor stuff you can visit and fish at the Myrtle Beach State Park. If you don’t fish, it is still fun to walk on the pier and look at the scenery. Often, we see people catching amazing things. My boys have seen a few hammerhead sharks and other types of sharks on the pier, which they love. Huntington Beach State Park is further south (on the way to Charleston) but also great for exploring and finding alligators and Brookgreen Gardens is right nearby. If you like shopping, there is Broadway at the Beach, which again, my kids love. It is full of shops and restaurants. There are activities to do there like riding big paddle boats shaped like swans and feeding carp from the docks, which is cheap entertainment. If you like miniature golf, there is mini golf at Broadway at the Beach and all over the Myrtle Beach area in general...they have dinosaur themes, jungle themes...they have the most golf courses in any area, so if you like regular golf too, this is the place to be. If you like entertainment they have an amusement park right near the ocean and a boardwalk where you can take a walk and grab an ice cream cone. At night, this area can get a little rough, but we have never had a problem (but then again my kids love Bourbon Street in New Orleans, too). If you like shows, they have all sorts of options, including the historic Bowery (where Alabama got its start) and typically there are numerous venues to enjoy music or performances. If you like baseball they have a fun team called the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and you can go to the stadium and enjoy a great evening at the ball park with your family. There are go kart tracks and movie theaters and Tanger Outlet Mall (if shopping is your thing). There are charter boats that will take you out on the water fishing and on dolphin sightings, you can rent jet skis, take a banana boat ride, parasail, learn to sail. If you like dining out there is a great area in Murrell’s Inlet (just south of Myrtle Beach) that is called the Marshwalk and you can find plenty of options for dining. They have kayak rentals, too. If you are bringing your children and looking for a great park there is one off Farrow Parkway called Savannah’s Playground that my boys love. There is a great little pond to walk around, too and plenty of options for shopping and dining off Farrow Parkway, as well. The Myrtle Beach area is full of fun things to do and I am sure you will have a fantastic time. Stop second guessing your trip and get that bikini ready! :)
