Controlled opposition is a possibility sure. I don't know, all I can do is observe and analyze.
But even some super based people have failed to connect the dots on big tech. They see the payout and it overshadows any ethical dilemma for using and therefore legitimizing the service in the first place.
Edit to add: Conservatives making the claim that social media service tyrants are a "necessary evil" and that they must "own the libs" at all costs and especially when "in the trenches" of enemy combatants.
Sounds admirable on paper but the end result is legitimizing something that is not only vile to its core but deserved of scorn and ridicule to anyone who is associated with it.
