Hopefully it doesn't turn out like Missouri. It's like the wild West here. There's bodies lining the streets stacked like cordwood and the rivers are flowing with corpses. In the beginning they used refrigerated trucks as overflow morgues, but they all lost their generators years ago. After that they use the ice rinks. The stench is awful even with our covid masks. You can't sleep at night with all the gunshots going off. During the day it is fairly quiet, but we rarely go out after dark now. The key to staying alive, it would seem, is to never look anyone in the eye. That is generally a death sentence since the shooter can just claim "He was askin' fer it!" and the judges don't dare argue it lest they be shot too.

The troubles started 3 years ago at the Piggly Wiggly when an elderly blind man drew down a young bag boy when he was given paper instead of plastic. The checkout girl promptly shot and killed the old man and screamed "Cleanup on aisle 5". That phrase soon became the mantra call after all shootings so people would know it is safe to reholster.

Things are very different now. We have a 93% carry rate since most of the people who refused to carry have been killed or left the state. They were the first to go. Old man Jenkins is said to have the highest body count. He was a school bus driver that didn't put up with any shit from the kids or the parents and the bus company didn't dare fire him. Sporting events no longer have referees because they are executed by the crowds of fans after each bad call. We import our water from Flint, Michigan because ours is so contaminated with lead. The Police Departments have been disbanded as they are no longer needed. They have recently turned all the McDonalds into drive thru hospitals where a #1 meal means you are shot in the chest (also known as the McRib Special), a #2 is arms or legs and if you are bleeding out you ask to Supersize. If you are shot in the ass it's a Fish-Fillet. Lyft and Uber are now dedicated ambulances.

It's hard to remember what it was like before 'the troubles'. These memories will be permanently sears into my hippocampus.
