I have a high degree of ODD and well my kids too. I taught them to argue with me in rationale ways and with forethought and reason. Don't go along with people just because of a title and if you disagree ...disagree respectfully. The best thing I got out of that was that if they could argue with me they learned they could defend themselves and they hardly ever gave into peer pressure and will tell a person to their face your title doesn't mean anything to me. This unfortunately did lead to many teacher emails through the years, but eventually the teachers learned that my kids will stand up for themselves and if that didn't work then it was go time with me. After about the 7th grade, I rarely had issues. As a 30 year old, 26 year old, and 23 year old they are all stable adults who will tangle with their bosses when needed.
