The tactic is handy. An online dogfight on an otherwise innocuous forum started about a rape depiction in a film where everyone agrees it never belonged.

Someone came in with the usual leftist psychobabble that rape is really about power and domination, not at all about sexual lust. Of course they prefaced it with the unassailable hole card that they were victim of "a form of rape," whatever that means, and so could speak authoritatively for rapists about what makes rapists tick.

I shot back and said that I, too, am a victim of a form of sexual assault, which is true. I stood my ground and said cut the bulls***, rape is at its foundation driven by illicit sexual desire aka lust. While rape absolutely uses force, violence, and degradation to get what it wants, if somebody is sexually aroused in order to commit rape (which is by definition) then the orgasm is the main thing they're after. Force and violence are just the means to get it.

If they wanted only violence and domination, supposedly devoid of sexual desire, they could more easily beat someone into submission, or to death, without ever taking their pants down.

I concluded with this: claiming that rape really isn't about lust makes excuses for rapists by adding mitigating but hypothetical psychological factors where none usually exist.

The leftist tool has disappeared from the thread and no one else has taken up his cause.

Call them out fearlessly. Expose them as the fools or disinformation agents they are.
