I help support an animal shelter there. I’ve became good friends with the girl who runs it. Some things she has told me:

Water: they collect rainwater to survive. If it doesn’t rain, then they have to go buy water. It costs $50 for a decent amount. Not sure of the specifics.

Electricity: they lose power often.

Gasoline: they can buy it once per week. They have to wait in line that morning. Some go at midnight for the tanker that comes at 8am. Some weeks it just doesn’t show. That means no gas.

I think right now they are or were in a strict quarantine. They had soldiers keeping anyone from leaving their district. They had a couple dogs die because they weren’t allowed to leave to get to the vet.

She sees the same things happening here that lead to where they are and is worried for the USA.
