I can't find it. But something similar happened in Olympia. There was a Nazi or kkk speech (literally, not just called that by the media). I don't remember the guys name. Some type of blm (not blm but s group like that) was protesting over it in Olympia. A 2a group (3% or oath keepers or like that) came out heavily armed and kept the two groups separated. Basically policing the two groups and also making sure the cops didn't get heavy handed on either side. It was an interesting situation as two very opposed groups and some 2a armed protecting both and trying to keep the peace. In this particular situation there wasn't looting or riots. So they must of kept the peace?

However in your scenario I wouldn't think any civil rights activist (yes 2a is a civil right) would be protecting riotors. However if it was protests like the 60's (yes armed people of all colors were there) where literal peaceful protestors were having dogs sicked on them and being beaten whole merely sitting on a sidewalk then I think we would see 2a people protect them.
