Look how quickly Drudge fell... It takes time, but it happened. Drudge isn't even in the top 200 sites in the US anymore when it had climbed at one point to something like the top 25. The decline is slow, but it is happening. Drudge has lost like 75% of its traffic just in the last year alone.
I am skeptical if that will happen to Reddit, but they are so hostile now and it is such an echo chamber, that most people avoid places like /r/all or /r/popular, places that would keep them on the site and keep getting clicks, and instead they ONLY visit their niche subreddits now and leave. It's too toxic everywhere else. People can only handle so much.
