Exactly this! I made the mistake of going to trucking school and signing with mega carrier. Nearly 80% of the people including myself quit within a couple months for the reasons you laid out. The pay they advertised was not even close to what i actually made. There was actually a class action lawsuit against this company for not paying trainees the equivalent of minimum wage during the 1 month of over the road training. Could go on about all the other lies and shady practices i saw during my short time there... If there is a shortage these companies have nobody to blame but their self. Luckily i found a maintenance job at the airport near me shortly after i left. EDIT: Almost forgot but worth noting.. My trainer backed into another truck at a rest stop the first night i was on the truck lol. Needless to say the training was a complete joke. They have no issues throwing someone into a truck with little to no training and hoping they figure it out on their own.
