Btw there’s an argument for the confederate statues to stay: the characters all received a full presidential pardon after the war and some directly helped the reconciliation. Removing them is like being against that reconciliation between north and south and being against the presidential pardons that Abraham Lincoln gave. Removing them is cancelling all that unity built by Lincoln and the confederates after the war. Also it’s an insult to Lincoln and the next president after him to say that confederates are traitors since that ignores their pardons.
