I've noticed a lot of people take offense from everything and always assume the worst possible interpretation.

Someone at work told me they were mad because someone said they were articulate. They interpreted that compliment as an implication that the person thinks they wouldn't normally be articulate because they're black... instead of just taking the compliment for being actually articulate. I've been complimented on being articulate before, and I'm not black. It's a real compliment.
