I don’t have the figures handy, but something like twice as many whites are killed by cops as compared to blacks killed by cops. As for unarmed killing, 9 blacks and 19 whites (again, this is from memory, feel free to look it up, I may be off a bit) were killed by cops while unarmed last year.

If all things were equal, one would expect to see about 5.4x whites killed given population proportions, but things aren’t equal. As shown by crime stats (which closely correlate with victim surveys), blacks commit over half the murders, over half of some other violent crimes, and disproportionate amounts of various property crime. They thus have more interactions with police than whites do (and no, there isn’t some plot that means murders go underreported in white neighborhoods).

When the baseline is interactions with police, evidence suggests whites are slightly more likely to die than blacks. I believe a Harvard Economist named Fryer (a black dude) studied at least one major city and came to this conclusion.

Now, why are interactions with police the proper baseline and general population proportions the wrong baseline? If you use gen pop, you must conclude that the cops are deeply sexist: ~97% of deaths caused by cops are men; 93% of inmates are men; but men are slightly less than half the population.

Is this sexism by the cops? Do they hate men? No. Men legit commit most of the crime, se we interact with cops a lot more than women, and we get killed and locked up because of that.
