Sites that stay at the top over time often do so buy buying the competition, but that's not likely going to work for reddit. People will find alternatives and move there, slowly at first (already happening) and then suddenly. Then it'll just be cat pics and some obscure hobby subs left.

And at the moment reddit is doing all it can to encourage it. All the cool kids have left. When the wannabecool NPCs realize that their communist utopia has everyone turning on each other and the only voices of reason are Karens, they'll move somewhere else too.
