Unfortunately, they survived. They may be eating through straws for the rest of their lives and taxpayers will end up footing the bill. But I'm damn sure we were already footing the bill for their miserable existence before they decided to play in the middle of a highway. And it's not like them dying would have prevented them from voting for the next 100+ years either.
