All three of your examples are people who have gone to an art school or were tutored by an another artist. The reason why people with art or liberal arts degrees don't obtain a job with them is because networking is extremely important perhaps even more so than possessing actual talent and in some cases such as with a history degree, you have to have at least a masters to land a job with that degree.
