Herd immunity through mass infection is not the only solution, if it is a solution at all. Prison case studies where over 95% of inmates tested positive have suggested that with a disease this infectious, heard immunity will not kick in until virtually the entire population has gotten sick. We still don't know the long term health implications of this virus. There is a lot that can happen between "totally fine" and "sudden death".

Countries in Asia and Eastern Europe have shown that community transmission can be virtually eliminated with widespread mask adoption and public health measures.

Or its just that other countries are not testing like the US or not have different reporting criteria....

Don't believe everything you see online or in the news. Where I live, I could go online in February and a major tech company listed every confirmed infection on a map by street address of where the case was detected, and time of detection. At the height of the infection, I had a confirmed case about 200 meters from where I live. As I live next to a major hospital, many of my friends and neighbors work in the hospital, I had a front row seat to every measure in place. I also have friends who work in local government and were tasked with certain epidemic prevention activities.

Things were highly organized by the second week of Febuary and cases immediately began to die down. It was just measure after measure being implemented while at the same time everyone masked up and producers of masks kicked into high gear.

I went and tested myself for Covid at the hospital as well. Not because I had any symptoms, but because I wanted to see the testing procedure. It costed me less than 30 dollars and I had the results online within hours. I talked to the nurses doing the testing and I visited the infectious disease ward myself. It was virtually empty a month ago. Stop buying into the fake news.

I strongly believe, especially with all the straight lies from the WHO, that the disinformation is meant to keep the US fighting internally over this pandemic until the election. During this whole process I've been looking over at the US watching as people are fighting left and right, while fake news has been yanking every direction, saying masks don't work, then masks might work, then masks don't work, then protests are evil, then protests are fine, and so on and so forth. It's been a total clusterfuck thanks to all the competing narratives and disinformation, and it's hard to imagine that was not by design. I just hope people can cut through the bullshit soon.
