I know some folks are really into it, and i think it's always has been more of a want, than a need. So I will leave it up to the experts about which is better.

If or when the boogaloo happens, there is not going to be "hoardes" of people roaming around. They have done historical studies and such, and have found that the vast majority of people will stay in their home waiting for a government control to return. This will last for a week or two. If you live in a city/suburb, you should have enough time to GTFO before the "hoardes" arrive.

Most people dont realize that the US is setup for the continuity of government. If the Fed Gov collapses, then the states take over. If the local government fails, then the Governor take control of that city to restore order.

The most important thing is that you have a place to go to if the shit hits the fan. The more rural the better. Even if you dont have land (or know someone who does) somewhere, heading towards national/state parks would work as well. Make sure you have shelter of some type, food, water, a rifle and lots of ammo.
