I'd argue changing anything about Independence Day is messing with American identity. Regardless, we don't aim for inclusivity points here. It's love this country, with all of it's successes and flaws, or go fuck yourself. Doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement, but the core message is basically "in the quest to appease every diverse opinion that exists, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater".
