I think after the Winnipeg Jets moved to Phoenix and became the Coyotes, the name Jets should have died, and when they got a new franchise, they should have named it Winnipeg Warriors. Right now you have TWO "Winnipeg Jets" franchises operating, as the Phoenix team continues to count the stats achieved under the Jets name as their franchise's historical stats. That practice is common among teams that move, such as the former Quebec Nordiques and Hartford Whalers (now the Colorado Avalanche and Carolina Hurricanes).

So, I like the name Warriors, esp. when the city name also starts with W. If the DC team kept the same Indian head logo, that would make things a lot smoother.

The sucky part is changing it under pressure from cancel culture. If they change the logo or colors too, that's even suckier. There's nothing inherently racist about the word red or skins, or redskins. It's descriptive. If the Cleveland Browns changed to the Cleveland Blacks, would that be racist? No. It's a color. Like brown.
