There is no reason teachers can't work. I understand what you are saying. But, if they don't, they shouldn't get paid. That's the way it works in all other industries. If the teachers union or local jurisdiction doesn't allow it, then the teachers need to be calling their representatives and getting the schools opened. In fact, teachers should be the ones out in the streets leading the charge, demanding that the schools be opened. That's what would have happened when I was a kid... But, I am seeing the opposite today. It's truly sad.
