I no longer trust big tech to not target me politically. Ad targeting was one thing but their psychopath deranged employees have backdoor access to all our personal data. I work in tech and have worked places where we were able to scan all accounts via command line to search accounts that contained this or that.

  • I started by migrating my dumping my plan to save up for a new $1499 iPhone and go with an open source Android Phone when Apple forced Telegram to censor Telegram Channels on the Apple App Store version of Telegram. You can install the direct full version of Telegram on Android from their website bypassing the Google Play Store as well but you can't on iOS so I'm never buying another iPhone ever again. It's taken some work but I've got most apps replaced that didn't want to work on a de-Googled phone. With Aurora app store proxy, I can still download apps that I want within Google Play App Store but I can do it anonymously. I have also found many replacements in the open source app store called F-Droid.

  • I don't trust DropBox employees either so I looked into Sync.com but DropBox has better sync due to it's "block level sync". I took all my files off it, and put them through Cryptomator (a free cloud encryption program that encrypts files file-by-file vs a large container file with all the files in that so it doesn't have to re-sync the entire container after I modify one file), then backed them up to an external hard drive which I will update every few months. I investigated my own NextCloud server with it's backend encryption it would be a decent level of security but that was too expensive for me at this time to lease a dedicated server. VPS isn't an option for me because I want a lot of space. I might set it up on KimiSurfi.com with dual 2 TB drives in a mirror in case one drive fails.

  • Migrated to Brave Browser & Safari and migrated my password storage to KeePassXC since it works on all operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and android. I might actually buy a life-time license of enPass.io since it works really well on macOS especially Safari which a lot of free password managers don't work well with.

  • I setup AdGuard DNS on my router: https://adguard.com/en/adguard-dns/overview.html to stop the revenue stream from website ads. I also use ublock Origin extension in browser for second opinion ad blocking.

  • E-mail is being migrated to a MailPile server with backend storage encryption enabled: www.mailpile.is ... I don't trust ANY "secure" mail hosting service because they are can be backdoored if not already. If HushMail could backdoor their java applet in the mid 2000's, ProtonMail could do the same any day: https://www.wired.com/2007/11/hushmail-to-war/

  • When my Macbook dies I am switching to a Lenovo Carbon X1 (used of course so my money doesn't go directly to CYNA). Therefore any apps I've chosen all have to be cross platform from now, meaning they have to run on Windows, macOS, and Linux. I am still debating and testing Deepin (CYNA but excellent UI), Ubuntu DDE, Fedora, etc. RICHARD STALLMAN WAS RIGHT: If you want to be truly free you need to use opens source software, for EVERYTHING. Not some SaaS (software as a service) where they have your data and can lock you out of it at any moment and then not take your calls... like SalesForce: https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2019/05/30/tech-giant-brings-software-gun-fight/ instead use a based Indian CRM (customer relationship manager) such as Zoho (they are actually really good for the price BTW) or a self-hosted open source alternative like YetiForce which looks REALLY good: https://public.yetiforce.com/gallery/#15101803622059 that way you OWN all your data and it's kept private away from psychopath eyes.

  • Mailspring free version is an awesome desktop mail client. There is also a OpenPGP/GPG plugin for it on GitHub.

  • Canceled all entertainment subscriptions and will be moving to a pirate IPTV Kodi Android Box or App.

  • Sold iPad recently

  • Significantly curtailed my time on Facebook and made it so they cannot deal my phone data or location. You can do this by using the Facebook mobile site wrapper called Frost Facebook App to quickly access Facebook then get off. On Desktop I only use Firefox to access Facebook inside of a Facebook Jail Container: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/facebook-container/ (There is also one for Google).
