Yep most people treat cops with an adversarial attitude. I've always been honest with cops even when breaking the law be it by speeding or whatever and got my fair share of tickets but also got my fair shares of warnings. In the end they just want to check on you it gives them no pleasure to mess with you.
Even though I believe back when I had long hair this cop pulled me over just to pull me over. A little more context, he had busted a party I was at a week before he pulled me over. I was outside smoking when the cops arrived and as soon as they passed me to go do the house call I went to my car and drove off. I think he pulled me off purposefully because he got me for an improper lane change, I turned right on a green light into the far left lane.
But I left that party drunk and that probably bothered him. He searched my car and found my pipe so I got a paraphernalia charge. He didn't impound my car he asked me permission to park my car so I could get it back in the morning since he arrested me for that. I said of course and thanked him. My girlfriend bailed me. After that I never bought another pipe and he didn't pull me over again. Funny how it goes when you maintain respect even when you're in the wrong, it's like cops try to help you as much as they can.
