I wonder if masks are helping the overall economy, even if it turns out masks offer no real health benefits. People who would otherwise continue sheltering in place are going outside, shopping, going to restaurants, etc. You can't underestimate the psychology behind wearing a face covering. I've seen first hand many people acting as if it's some kind of magical bubble shield, when it reality it isn't doing much. Could the magical bubble shield be giving millions of people the nerve to go about their normal lives, stimulating the economy.
