That's the reason l changed my buying habits. The cars up here lose their value too fast because of the rust bs. I used to buy new midrange cars like Accords or Camrys etc and try to keep them as long as possible and basically give them away in a trade in.

Now what l do is buy a higher end car, but not new. Ex. I'm driving a Lexus LS 350. I buy 3 year old models (which are still under warranty), and trade them in after 3-4 years for another 3 year old while still getting decent money back for the trade in.

This way l get a much better car than l would have a new one for less money and they rarely fuck up on major components (my last Lexus in 3 years l only changed the oil and wipers, tires were new on it, brakes still good). And sell it with less depreciation, rince repeat. Worked out great for me so far.
