I went there last year for a conference and it was mostly a shithole. Homeless drug addicts on every block living in dirty shit smelling streets. You also had all of these rich tech douchebags from around the world in fancy new clothes bragging about their wealth and about traveling around the world while completely oblivious to the misery they helped create in their city. The whole situation made me feel distain for everyone who lives there and for silicon valley in general.
North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf seemed less bad, but definitely on their way to becoming like the rest of the city. It's sad to see how they've turned what was probably a very nice city into a third world shithole.
