I read they based that asymptomatic thing on people that got sick in Germany from someone, but the people that got sick didn't know the person they got it from had symptoms and several months later, the one that spread it confirmed they actually did have symptoms at the time. But by then that time all the "professionals" were just going by the asymptomatic narrative.
