They start disinformation campaigns not just to combat speech they disagree with, but to discredit the very IDEA behind the speech they disagree with. Well, years ago, there was a growing concern in this country regarding the rise in Satanic activity, which is to say, people who actively claimed to be WORSHIPING Satan. It was quite clear that it was happening - the only thing really disagreed on was the rate and severity. But hte Left's eventual reaction was the same as they always have: discredit the idea entirely.

And so the concerns about the rise in Satan-worshippers and the evil in the land was classified by the complicit media and academia as "The Satanic Panic" referred to, of course, with the full derision one would give to some sort of baseless hysteria engaged in by ignorant peasants.

The idea that it was mass hysteria WAS the disinformation, and after a few decades of ignoring the problem, we now have major corporations and Hollywood celebrities openly embracing Satanism, with the sacrifice of our children as a result.
