I remember when I was excited about "next-gen" game engines coming out like Luminous Studio, the FOX Engine, the RE Engine, Source 2, etc. and the revolution they would bring to game graphics.

Now everything is on Unreal (complete with bad texture loading that still hasn't been fixed to this day) and everything looks so fucking awful and samey because developers stopped focusing on textures and materials and shunted everything to lighting.
