1 wonder what makes someone decide to play the bagpipes?

Was it his idea? Or was it something his parents decided for him --- like many parents choosing accordian lessons for their kids when they really wanted to play the guitar.

A bagpipe can be cool when your sixty because you're uniquely eccentric -- probably not so much when you're trudging off to lessons at ten.

Did he carry it in a case? Was he given a position in the high school marching band?

Bagpipes are interesting and there's a story there...and we will never know...
