Aristotle inferred that you cannot have a functional political society if there is not a common understanding of what justice means.

That is in essence what has been leading to western civilization's destabilization. The lack of commonality on what justice means.

The reason we're lacking this dates back to the 1700s and has been trending to where we're at. What has been named "progress, liberalism or leftism" is actually nothing more than moral nihilism caused by the breakdown of Christian morality. The breakdown started around the 1700s due to the the beginnings of what we now call globalization.

Formally, travel between communities was highly limited so people kept to their small community silos where every person was raised with a similar moral code. That meant that communication between people was grounded in logic and rationality because each person understood without needing to say anything what was right and what was wrong. As travel became more accessible, these silos began integrating with one another and the commonality of morality began to breakdown. As people began to be exposed to many different seemingly subjective senses of morality, people began moving away from impersonal moral codes such as ones in a Holy Bible and toward moral nihilism. In came philosophers like Kierkegaard, Nietzsche and Kant to try and rationalize the new progressive trend in morality but all of them failed to establish anything useful.

When society embraces moral nihilism and a common sense of morality breakdowns, all communication begins to breakdown and unity becomes chaos because now every moral judgement can be contested based on nothing more than a person's feeling yet everyone acts as if their feeling is a shared common sense of morality all should follow. When anyone tries to impose a common moral code, it is regarded as repression which means that reason becomes repression because only with a shared moral code can one reason with another since lacks of shared moral codes leads to disputes grounded in emotion. This means that reason itself becomes oppression and thus people become irrational. Once people are irrational the only thing that governs them are their impulses and once that occurs people can be easily controlled by anyone that governs their impulses (pornography, women, porn, advertisements, the media, government, academia, etc...). People without a solid moral code becomes slaves.

The ancient philosophers warned us of this so yes philosophy is on our side. The solution is to embrace Christian morality and reject moral nihilism and subjective morality. There are superior ways to behave and structure the morality of society. Once this is established we can then agree on justice and once we agree on justice we can have a propserous unfied society of free men, not slaves.
