Poltical assassinations in the late 60's, Watergate, failures in Vietnam, insane inflation and interest rates (something millenials never mention when it comes to purchasing a home), race riots, gas shortages, and factories/manufacturing plants starting to shutdown and urban cities turning to complete shit holes.
