Talk to your local fire department. They can't do the cops' job, obviously, a completely different department.
But they can park fire trucks opposite polling places. Without the men themselves being visible. They can be inside the truck, just keeping an eye on things, and they have phones, radios, pikes, megaphones, and other equipment.
If that is practical.
Perhaps any volunteer firemen who only respond to fires when they happen should consider that a duty day. And the day before and after.
Employers, give your employees the day off, if possible. Or half the day. Some may want to be with their families.
