The heart rate on the monitor is from that big fucking machine doing cpr on his chest, not from his heart beating on his own.

this is incorrect. the heart rate monitor operates like an ekg, where the electrical impulses of the heart are measured. cpr does not cause any action potential in the myocardium, and therefore there would not be any heart rate shown on the monitor.
