Note that he's a lawyer. Having any conviction of anything not a misdemeanor makes you nearly unhireable--in both public sector and private law firms. He'll probably also be disbarred. This is indeed a big deal, for this guy at least. For him to plead guilty and throw away any future in practicing law makes me think there is a lot going on here.
