Over the past ten years or so, APD could proudly boast of:

• Leisurly response times

• Laissez faire attitude towards maintaining order in the city of Austin

• Allowing downtown Austin to become a crime-ridden mess

• Inaction when citizens needed protection from rioters, joggers and bums

• Inability to clear out massive bum encampents

• A police chief who told people to turn in their relatives and neighbors for gun control (in Texas)

I support cops 100% - when they do their jobs. APD is the fish that rotted starting with the head. Its leadership was installed by the City Council composed of retard liberals, hysterical women and Mexicans, with the explicit intention to let the capital city of Texas turn into a shithole. And the attitudes of the leadership propagated down to the rank-and-file.

If it's a ticket that needs writing, APD is there with lights and sirens on. Otherwise? You could get your ass whooped in broad daylight in front of the City Hall, and they'll look the other way. Assault? Battery? Meh, we got better things to do. Got some of your stuff stolen? Sure, APD has their TOP MEN on it. You literally need to get shot in order to get some attention, and only because gunshots disturb their beauty slumber. Incident report DB gets three pages longer every day because nobody is actually POLICING the communities, so crime happens, crime gets reported, and nothing gets done. Where are the cops? Sitting on highways looking for speeders (as if, you you can't go faster than 30 mph on 35 or Mopac) or are out writing tickets because this brings in revenue and is a whole lot safer than actually maintaining order.

IDK if Gov Abbott has any options, but the city leadership and police leadership are clearly determined of making him run the state from a shithole. The entire City Council needs to be thrown out on their asses, and the entire APD chain of command along with them, and replaced with people who can whip the department into shape. Until then - give them money, and they'll buy new toys and do nothing. Take money away, and they won't buy new toys and STILL do nothing.
