I grew up in an area where it was mostly Latino. When hurricane katrina hit, our school was forced to accept a bunch of black students from Louisiana.
This was the first time I've ever seen major fights, theft, and sexual assault happen in our school. They even had to assign a few more resource officers to the school because of the amount of crime that was going on. A native student and one of our teachers were sent to the hospital because one of the Louisiana kids brought a knife and started stabbing the kid. When the teacher got involved, he started to stab her.
I walked past that hall during the aftermath and I remember seeing blood all over the floor and walls.
Before these kids showed up, we only had 3 black students in our school. It was a small school. Our graduating class was only 200 students. Luckily, all those kids were kicked out and sent back home before my senior year, so we got to enjoy the last year without worrying if we were gonna get into a fight, or robbed.
