The “mail in” vote argument would have been reasonable if states allowed early voting by absentee ballot so there was some time to verify the vote. I get it that elderly people are still scared over COVID, and to some extent it is a risk for them. The cut off just should be 1-2 weeks before election night. That is how other countries do it. The “mail-in“ votes are counted, audited by all parties and tallied before election night. What the D’s are proposing has no sincere intention.

Nordic countries which US lefties so admire do it this way, at least in Finland. It’s absentee early mail-in voting (you have to request a ballot and they verify your eligibility when you make the request). They also have early in-person voting for people who cannot make it out on election day. Not admiring their social policies but at least voting is done right. Also ID is 100% required and the absentee early vote by mail requires 2 verification signatures and they cannot be from your family.
