I agree. But I think this is going to self-correct itself somewhat. Degrees, particularly useless humanity degrees have lost their value by their ubiquity and sensible people are starting to take stock of the huge debt they'll be expected to pay off and the reality that shitty degrees will not allow you to do that in a reasonable timescale (then again, sensible people don't enter degrees like gender studies anyway). Couple that with the effects of Coronavirus lockdowns and the ever-increasing rise of online educational resources and I think things are going to get interesting.
We could also do with a return to apprenticeship programs. Sadly neglected for too long. Nothing like learning on the job.
