There is no swaying his mind. He argues Trump is divisive, (I’m white btw). He claims the white man keeps the black man down. I ask him how Is Trump divisive but he literally won’t answer me - he rolls his eyes like “come on”.

He thinks the riots are necessary/justified to make a statement that the system is racist against blacks. Keep in mind all he watches is MSNBC.

He agrees there’s a cultural/moral problem with kids IN GENERAL these days, (for example he hates trap music and todays rapping, he hates the word nigger, doesn’t like how they rap about drugs gangs killing money, he thinks they’re rude and no respect) Which I completely agree with him on.

Yet, when I point out the problem of young blacks and their high crime rate and THEIR cultural problem, black on black homicide, their use of drugs and gangs he says:

“you don’t understand the plight of the black man. When a black man fails his family (I mentioned very high single motherhood in black communities), he feels like a failure. So that’s why he leaves. You don’t understand because you’re white.”

You can’t debate with this kind of logic. His family are all anti-trump voting Biden. My little sister thinks I’m racist because I support Trump (half sister). I ask her to show me one thing he said that’s racist and she pulls up Twitter posts and Vice and all sorts of complete garbage, but not ONE thing Trump said - it’s all sources twisting words or putting words in his mouth.

They are George Floyd supports, I ask them OK: pull up the full video of the arrest, show me the white mans system being unfair to him and they would not pull it up. They refused.

My stepdad said (I’m heavily summarizing here) that it was OK for Obama to spy on Trump campaign because, well, because he thinks Trump is dividing America and is the cause of all this - I just, can’t... even...

Edit: my Stepdad is a good guy. He’s a hard worker, he took in 5 of my mother’s children as if it were his own. He tells everybody I’m his son, and I love him and he loves me. But The idea of race is so integrated in his thinking (along with his brothers and now my little sister) it’s inseparable.
