But the fact that there are still 26% that think otherwise is a problem. 1 in 4 people are willing to consider irreversibly mutilating children before even allowing hormones in the endocrine system and other genetic & environmental factors to suss themselves out. The endocrine system & brain do not typically normalize until around 26 or 27, and even then, you can argue that they continue to develop throughout life.

I'm a biophysicist, and I've researched neuron development & hormones/chemicals that assist it. I have related training, so far as dissecting rat embryos & tracing neuron pathways, so it's not like I'm talking outta my ass. Fuck, I have my own genetic endocrine issues, and from those issues alone, I could confidently tell you that these are things that you do not fuck around with. Even simple meds will throw everything off & subtly, slowly, but steadily spiral into a whole host of issues. Especially the way that libs and money-hungry, ethically questionable, and dare-I-say predatory doctors & psychologists are fucking around. If you do, you must do so with extreme caution because that delicate balance is very, very easy to screw up.

The endocrine, neurological, & genetic systems are extremely complex & interconnected systems that many indoctrinated or over-eager doctors, psychologists, & researchers are stirring up without fully understanding those systems or responsibly considering the consequences of what they are stirring up. These "professionals" are treating their patients like experiments, and not human beings.

One of the students I did that research with, during a conversation about his plans for medical school, said to my face that

"I don't give a shit about the patients or caring for people; I just want to do research."

That same fucker is now currently in medical school. The fact that he stated it so comfortably & casually in a group of people means he is far from the only one who has that mindset (and the way our PI handled his research rats & students certainly doesn't dispell that notion. He was awkward at best & unethically cold/creepy at worst--Did I mention he also married his much, much younger, immigrant, female, former student almost right after she graduated? While not technically wrong, it's questionable considering other things.)

Just a few of many reasons why I left that group & am no longer going down that path. Thank god that PI only handled rats & not actual people. While there are many good & ethical doctors & researchers, there are just as many who are intentionally slipping through the safety net by going through the motions to appear ethical & qualified. Not to mention the authority figures who let them through to advance their own agendas... People like that do not state the hyppocratic oath or adhere to research ethics with sincerity. These people should not be doctors or psychologists or even researchers with access to patients in the first place.

I am all for treating people equally under the law, and that includes people who identify as trans, regardless of whether or not their reasons are legit or not. But no fucking way does that mean requiring people to adjust their speech with mandatory pronouns, preventing others from excercising their rights as individuals & parents, or allowing questionably-supported, irrational, & unethical procedures by treating such issues like transgenderism without the extreme caution they deserve. This is not a joke, & liberals are taking all of this way, way, way too lightly.

But we've been saying this for years, and my ranting won't awaken the willfully blind, so I digress...

Edit: I guess to sum up my point--While yes, it's nice to see that the majority of everyday people are not falling for this shit... There are lots of people in academia & in authority positions who are pushing for this, and they have made more headway than should have ever been allowed. Eventually, these people will become the absolute authority and/or majority at the rate they are indoctrinating students & letting ethics fall to the wayside in the process. We need to push back harder in academia. Something must be done ASAP.

P.S. Don't just blindly follow your doctor's advice folks. You still need to think for yourself, because a degree is no longer a fool-proof indicator of credibility. Doctors & scientists are a resource for guidance, not an absolute authority--Some resources are better than others. Do your own research, and if your doctor doesn't seem up to par, is dismissive of certain methods without producing evidence why, or is unwilling to build on your own observations, consider finding another doctor.
