I’m an avid Madden player and Patriot, here’s my take:

I bought Madden and I will not pick him on any fantasy drafts and I will not sign him as a free agent either for a few reasons.

1. He’s 32 years old, and players regress hard in their 30s in Madden. You could get 1 good season out of him, 2 if you are lucky.

2. Even though he is an 81 overall, that was pumped up by making his awareness rating in the high 80’s. The user controls the QB at all times in a passing play so if he is on your team the awareness rating does not matter. Now if it is a CPU QB or a game is being simulated, AWR is a huge deal.

How they made him an 81 overall is pure virtue signaling, and their mechanism was raising his AWR to 87 or somewhere in that region. If his awareness rating were knocked down to like 50 or 60, whatever rating comes out of that would be appropriate because he is has not played in quite a few years.

They did this because people caught up to Madden’s bullshit on not improving CFM mode and neglecting it for MUT, and the hashtag #NFLdropEA has been trending (EA has an exclusive license from the NFL and when they got the deal in like 2005 Madden began to go downhill). I would love to see Congress ban exclusive licensing on sports video games, it could make a huge inroads to a traditionally Democratic voter base.
